1. How many studies will my dentist ask me to participate in?

Typically, practitioner-investigators enroll in 1 or 2 studies a year, so your dental professional may ask you to participate in those in which you qualify.

2. Will my dental professional be experimenting on me?

The types of studies we are doing do not involve experimentation. We will be collecting information on procedures done in everyday practice. Your dental professional will not do anything outside of normal procedures-other than documenting that you understand what information will be recorded and how that information will be used.

3. How much extra time will this take in addition to my regular appointment?

We have made a special effort to implement studies that will interfere as little as possible with your appointment time. Most studies require that you provide informed consent to participate. The purpose of this is to document that you fully understand each study and how all the information will be used.

4. How many dental professionals are in the network?

Currently, we have over 1,000 dentists and hygienists enrolled in the network. They comprise people from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oregon, Washington, and the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
